Mind Transplant begins in a dark room with a ghostlike doctor wearing a surgical mask making incisions on the listeners scalp using alien telematics and motorized machinery. Once the transplantation is complete, immediately the dimensional change takes effect. You feel like you are underwater and become increasingly aware of the scale of objects, and someone left the barnacle television on Telemundo. Traveling through this portal you encounter various polymorphous compartments of historical time, liquid creatures forming shapes in the air with a particular sense of humor, forgotten childhood memories, peculiar motifs, archetypes, physically puzzling rooms, and eventually ascend into a rubedo permutation.

Coming out of the sprawl of Houston, Texas, Trusty Taperecorder plants spider-legs and proceeds to let you on for a fantastical ride through the city, it’s suburbs, shopping malls and slums. Their style of music ranges from ambient to full force punk. Their debut, produced by Art Pinsof (aka Groggy, Caglioso, etc.), is a trip into a world of their own creation. A story is told and to those with ears to hear it, it will be heard. A story of four music obsessed, eternally bored ex-Houstonians (who have since the writing and recording of this album moved to Austin).

Art originally began this album, as a joke, asking the question, “If 8 bit music is ‘cool’, what would the coolest chiptune music be”? Faced with the obvious answer “0 Bit music”, he decided instead to go with the lowest bit music that would still produce sound. 1 Bit Wizard’s debut is an album not interested in referencing any form of video game music, but rather finds it’s conceptual inspiration in the archetypes of fantasy films, books and all night AD&D sessions.
As a warning, it should be noted that 1 bit music does not contain ANY volume changes, only frequency changes. The one volume it remains on is LOUD.

Art’s been making music in various shapes and forms for the past 2 decades, usually with the goal of channelling something from the infinite void of consciousness into the realm of modern sound and melody.  As the generally less chaotic half of About This Product, he manipulates, adds and subtracts to the perplexingly fascinating visions Jonathan Barber forwards to him.
His own recent projects range from fantasy inspired video game music (1 Bit Wizard), to autobiographical bedroom ambient-pop (Groggy), to David Lynch inspired stream of consciousness folk (The Movie and the Film), to electronic pop (Caglioso), to many other disparate children of his eclectic imagination (Bosty, (No Artist), The Early Christians, DJ aSkew, DJ Grog Frog, etc.).
